THE HANDOVER FIELD GUIDE

Website handover email template for freelancers

A practical client delivery email with a document link, clear actions, support boundaries and an acknowledgment request.

Make the next action obvious

The delivery email should help your client act. Link to the handover document and final assets, identify what still needs confirmation, and repeat the support arrangements already agreed. Avoid presenting incomplete work as finished.

A copy-ready starting point

Before you send

Replace every bracketed field and test the links as a recipient with the intended permissions. Check that the dates and support scope match the actual agreement. Remove any sentence that does not describe your project.

An acknowledgment of receipt is not automatically legal acceptance of the work. Use the process in your existing agreement for formal sign-off.

Attach a useful document

Use the free builder to produce the project-specific record. HTML is portable; PDF is convenient for a fixed copy. In either case, keep passwords and private keys out of the attachment.
